Making Millions With Your Own Ebook

March 5th, 2010 No comments »

writing-and-selling-ebooks1It has become very popular, not to mention profitable, to write ebooks. It seems as though everyone with a computer is doing it. Many would tell you that the key to a successful ebook is in finding buyers. I prefer to say that the key to a successful ebook is in finding sellers. To be really successful writing ebooks, you need an army of willing affiliates making sales for, and with, you. A good affiliate program is what you need to make really big money.

Can you make a million dollars on an ebook without using an affiliate program? Well, let’s look at the numbers. We’ll assume that the useful sales life of an ebook is two years. That works out to 730 days. If your ebook is selling for $24.95, you’d need to sell 40, 080 ebooks to reach the million dollar level. That works out to 55 ebooks each and every DAY for two full years! Many ebooks sell less than that in a month. To be honest, many authors don’t sell that many ebooks in an entire YEAR! But, can you make a million dollars with one ebook? Yes, it is certainly possible, but not very likely.

There is no single key factor to be successful selling ebooks. But rather, a series of items contribute to an ebook’s success. Following are four primary factors that determine your ebook’s prospects for success.

     1. Many experts say that you should write about something that interests you. I say nonsense! To have a successful ebook, you’ve got to write about topics that OTHER people (your buyers) are interested in. You must do your research before beginning your ebook. Find out what people are searching for. Learn what people want. Lurk around in numerous forums and take note of the questions that are asked time and again. This can be very productive. If you see that many people are asking the same question, you may have found a profitable ebook topic. There are many methods you can use to find out which subjects are selling well. My ebook, for one, has an excellent section on how to find hot selling topics. » Read more: Making Millions With Your Own Ebook

Meta Tags

December 21st, 2009 No comments »

Meta tag is a coding statement or tag in the HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) that outlines some elements or features of the contents of a web page. The information given in the meta tag is employed by the Internet search engines to index a page, so that when anyone searches for that type of information, he will be able to find the page. The tag is placed as a part of heading at the top of the HTML in the web page. The tag is written in the usual form i.e. <META name=”something” content=”something else”>

Unlike other tags, it doesn’t need an end tag </META>, but it has to be made sure that each tag doesn’t include any line breaks.

As per the search engine optimization, when a user refers to meta tags, he is actually referring to the meta description tag and meta keyword tag. Though the meta description tag and the meta keyword tag are not viewed by users, they provide meta document information to user agents like search engines. The meta description tag comprises one or two line description of the page. The meta keyword tag enlists the words or phrases that explains the contents of the page in an optimum way. Both the tags are used by the search engines in putting a page in their index. Sometimes, they are also used to provide the user a summary of the page’s contents. Following is an example of simple meta tags for a Book Review site. » Read more: Meta Tags

Get More Clients From Local Search

October 22nd, 2009 No comments »

There are normally two segments of business models - in one part you have the whole world as your target audience or readers and on the other part your target audience is limited within a single geographical location. Now you may decide on what you want to do depending on your business model.

For example, if you are a local service provider like a lawyer, there is hardly any need to reach the whole world to generate business. A lot of law firms are targeting their local market and optimizing their website accordingly. They are trying to focus more on local search results provided by the major search engines.

To add to this, those who want to get immediate business are going all out for paid inclusion programs like Google AdWords or Yahoo search marketing solutions.

So what is your plan? » Read more: Get More Clients From Local Search

A Brief History To Ask.com

October 20th, 2009 No comments »

     The Beginning

In 1996, “Ask Jeeves” was founded by David Warthen, who had founded EyeGames - a children’s video game company, and Garrett Gruener, a venture capitalist. At its start, the concept of the Ask.com search engine was to allow searchers to type questions in natural language in order to get results, rather than to type in a random string of keywords (although that would work as well). The Jeeves character, based on the butler in the Jeeves and Wooster books by P.G. Wodehouse, was designed as the company’s main identifier. (However, the company did not ask Wodehouse’s estate for permission to use this character and legal action was threatened, though the issue was later settled for an undisclosed amount (1).) Jeeves was phased out in 2006 (2) in a humorous manner, with the engine saying he was retiring (3), and the company was renamed simply Ask.com and the search engine was reborn.

     Ask3D and New Innovations

In June 2007, Ask, still one of the top Internet search engines, launched “Ask3D.” Part of this new direction was to allow users to add “skins” - or customized images - to the Ask.com search engine home page. The 3D offering also meant that results would be customized based on the user’s search. This meant that, in a similar manner as Google’s Universal Search concept, a user’s search for a location would get not only pages about that location but also maps and details about it. If the user searched for music, he might also be able to listen to song clips or read news stories about the artist. In addition, the Ask.com search engine included a preview feature for its search results. When available, users can click on an icon of binoculars next to a result and see a small screen capture of that page. Plus, a new toolbar was added to the left-hand side of the page, giving searchers options for narrowing down a search. » Read more: A Brief History To Ask.com
